376 Youths Graduate in Horticuluture Training

Over 376 youths have graduated from the Corporate Institute of Horticulture (CIH)) in Salima following a four-month training facilitated by TEVETA in partnership with German Agency  for International
Cooperation ( GIZ).

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, TEVET Authority Regional Manager for the Central, Joseph Sambaya emphasized the significance of  Horticulture in driving economic growth and realizing Vision 2063.

“ The Malawi export strategy recommends horticulture as one way of developing economically. The skills acquired by the graduates will play a vital role in shaping our agricultural landscape and fostering sustainable development,” he said.

The Board Chairperson for CIH Yohannes Antonio advised the students to take Horticulture as a business using the expertise they acquired from the Entrepreneurship module which is embedded in their occupational training to positively impact the Horticulture sector.


Germany Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) representative, Catherine Malata expressed containment with the students' accomplishments and assured that GIZ will continue to support youth with skills training.

The graduates were trained under the Informal Sector Skills Training Programme which targets those with little or no education background.
