TEVET Instructors trained in modern design technologies

TEVETA has today concluded a five-day Training in AutoCAD for Tailoring and Fashion Design at Naminjiwa Community Technical College in Phalombe.

The training involved 40 instructors from all technical colleges in the southern region.

Closing the training programme, TEVETA Executive Director Mr. Elwin Chiwembu Sichiola said the training was implemented to strengthen digital competencies among trainers.

“We are mandated to facilitate capacity building programmes for instructors. This training equips them with industry-aligned digital design skills that modernize garment production, enhance the quality, relevance and competitiveness of tailoring and fashion design programmes,” he said.

The training was facilitated by Ms. Veronica Neba N’gambi, a specialist in AutoCAD.
“My expertise in digital design software CLO3D has helped equip fellow instructors with skills to integrate digital technology into fashion design training,” she said.

Speaking on behalf of the participants, Mr. Biswick Kabambe, an instructor from Mangochi Community Technical College, said the training has strengthened trainers’ understanding of AutoCAD and its application in the fashion industry.
