Miracle Technical Institute Instructors Drilled in Effective Delivery of Technical Lessons
Malawi Assemblies of God University (MAGU), a partner of Miracle Technical Institute is facilitating a 10 day pedagogy training for instructors at the institute.
The Technical, Entrepreneurial and Vocational Education and Training (TEVET) Authority Regional Service Centre Manager for the North, Joseph Chikopa said the training will enhance training delivery at the college.
" This continuous professional development program is crucial for instructors, as it will equip them with teaching skills that will enable them offer quality technical training to trainees," he said.
He explained that if instructors are able to impart modern skills to trainees, they will contribute to the achievement of Agenda 2063, which is a key development aspiration for the country.
Miracle Technical Institute Principal, Wanangwa Sichone, disclosed that Malawi’s technical colleges face a shortage of professional instructors with appropriate educational backgrounds, and that with this training, the institution is confident of developing properly trained staff.
Said Sichone: “This program will be a game changer, as experts may possess skills in their respective fields, but effective delivery has remained a challenge hence this initiative.”
Sichone further noted that there are gaps in the delivery of some lessons, and the goal is to address those gaps so that trainees are equipped with accurate and relevant information for their trades.
“Our experts may have skills in various fields, but we want to help them improve their delivery skills, which will contribute to the provision of quality skills development in Malawi’s technical sector,” she said.
The instructors undergoing training are drawn from various trades, including Food Production, Cosmetology, Carpentry and Joinery, Electrical Installation and Electronics, and ICT.
Miracle Technical Institute is one of the institutions in the country implementing the World Bank and Government of Malawi’s Skills for a Vibrant Economy (SAVE) project.
