TEVET CURRICULUM DEVELOPERS

Job Responsibilities

In a quest to improving efficiency in curriculum development and meet the curricula demands, the Authority wishes to develop a pool of Curriculum Developers who will be engaged on need basis to develop TEVET curriculum in their specific occupations/trades

Roles and functions of Curriculum Developers
The Curriculum Developers under this agreement will undertake assignments for the TEVET Authority through the Quality Assurance Directorate to perform the following functions:
· Developing DACUM Chart, competency standards, modules, sample assessment materials, learning and training manuals
· Setting course outline
· Setting specification for particular job
· Provide technical advice on the subject area
· Setting assessment criteria

Applicants can apply as competence standards developers or items/question developers or both. 

Specific Functions
The following are the specific functions for the curriculum developers

i. Competence Standard Developer
Curriculum Competence Developer is an occupational expert who gives out content of the curriculum.

Curriculum Competence Developer shall:
· Conduct research regarding the subject area
· Review curriculum content being generated
· Give recommendations on changes or gaps in the curricula
· Participate in the curriculum process
· Create curricula
· Allocate credit weightings to the curricula
· Create assessment criteria
· Prepare the reference materials for curriculum development
· Articulate content for a particular course
· Give technical advice on the content
· Give guidance on the delivery and implementation of the curricula

ii. Item/question developer
Item/question developer is an occupational expert who sets assessment materials to measure the curriculum content.  The assessment materials include checklist, oral and written questions and model answers. 

Item/question developer shall:
· Interpret the curriculum content
· Plan the assessment materials
· Design the assessment materials
· Develop the assessment materials
· Compile the assessment materials
· Moderate the assessment materials
· Evaluate the assessment materials
· Review the assessment materials

Educational Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidates should possess the following qualifications and experience

Competence Standards Developer

For level 1

·       Level 3 Malawi TEVET Certificate or its equivalent in the occupation with 3 years minimum work experience in the specific occupation

·       Those with higher qualifications will have an added advantage

·       Evidence of knowledge on Competence Based Education and Training (CBET) approach

·       Proven track record

For level 2

·       Level 3 Malawi TEVET Certificate or its equivalent in the occupation with 5 years minimum work experience in the specific occupation

·       Those with higher qualifications will have an added advantage

·       Evidence of knowledge on Competence Based Education and Training (CBET) approach

·       Proven track record

 

For level 3

·       Malawi TEVET Diploma or its equivalent in the occupation with

8 years minimum work experience in the specific occupation

·       Evidence of knowledge on Competence Based Education and Training (CBET) approach

·       Proven track record

 

For level 4

·        Bachelors’ Degree in the occupation with 5 years work experience or Malawi TEVET Diploma or its equivalent with 8 years work experience in the field.

·       Those with higher qualifications will have an added advantage

·       Evidence of knowledge on Competence Based Education and Training (CBET) approach

·       Proven track record

 

Item/Question Developer

For level 1

·       Level 3 Malawi TEVET Certificate or its equivalent in the occupation with 3 years minimum work experience in the specific occupation

·       Those with higher qualifications will have an added advantage

·       Evidence of knowledge on Competence Based Education and Training (CBET) approach

·       Proven track record

For level 2

·       Level 3 Malawi TEVET Certificate or its equivalent in the occupation with 5 years minimum work experience in the specific occupation

·       Those with higher qualifications will have an added advantage

·       Evidence of knowledge on Competence Based Education and Training (CBET) approach

·       Proven track record

For level 3

·       Malawi TEVET Diploma or its equivalent in the occupation with

8 years minimum work experience in the specific occupation

·       Those with higher qualifications will have an added advantage

·       Evidence of knowledge on Competence Based Education and Training (CBET) approach

·       Proven track record

 

For level 4

·        Bachelors’ Degree in the occupation with 5 years work experience or Malawi TEVET Diploma or its equivalent with 8 years work experience in the field.

·       Those with higher qualifications will have an added advantage

·       Evidence of knowledge on Competence Based Education and Training (CBET) approach

·       Proven track record
